Player profile: Crosby Bringhurst

Crosby Bringhurst is one of the school’s multi-sport athletes. Bringhurst plays varsity for the Warriors basketball team as well as the baseball team. With a marginal impact on both teams as a sophomore his expectations will rise as his talent and work continues to progress. As a pitcher Bringhurst managed to rack up 39.3 innings pitched’ 3 wins, 37 strikeouts, a 2.47 earned run average and a no-hitter against Hunter. Taking the mound this year Crosby hopes to hit consistent 90’s on the radar gun topping out at 94 mph. When asked what his expectations for the baseball team are this season Bringhurst responded, “I have high expectations for myself as well as the rest of the team this year. With a lot of varsity experience from last year I think that we have a chance to make a deep run in state.”

On the basketball court Bringhurst brings a very diverse presence. With good ball handling as well as size he presents offensive matchup problems all over the court for other teams. Also, being athletic along with the size is extremely valuable on the defensive side of the ball as well. Although Bringhurst wasn’t a star last year he came off the bench and showed glimpses of future leadership on a growing team. In a game against West last season he came in and scored 19 pts. Last year he averaged only 4 points per game, 2.8 rebounds per game, and 1 assist per game over a span of 21 games. However, those numbers are likely to increase as he will now be getting a lot of time out on the court.

No matter which of the two sports he is playing Bringhurst will likely have a large impact on both sports in their upcoming seasons. Watch for him on the basketball court as number 25 as well as on the diamond where he wears number 22.
