With high hopes of placing in state, the girls’ tennis team goes into region competition with enthusiasm and confidence.

The varsity singles team constits of: seniors Leiani Brown, Courtney Meacham, and Christina Chahil. The varsity doubles teams consists of: sophomores Rachel Timpson and Hannah Hardy, and juniors Brequel Burbank and Kaylee Wengren.

“I’m really proud of how we did this year,” said Leiani Brown, senior varsity player. “A lot of the firls came on to the team not knowing a single thing about tennis and it’s inspiring for me to see just how much we’ve grown, not only athletically but as a team too.” Brown has been on the team since sophomore year and really enjoys being on the team.

With this being Rebecca Elkins fifth year being head coach of the team, she knows her players and knows the game very well.

“This year has been amazing, we have a mixture of great leaders and new players to complete the team. We have seen some great progress this season and had a ton of fun at the same time,” said Head Coach Elkins.

“[Elkins] is a great coach! Great motivator when you really need it. Elkins is not only funny, but very helpful and very supportive!” said  Chrisina Chahil, senior varsity player.

With the girls’ tennis team off to such a great start, they’re prepared and excited for region on October 3.
