According to the facts listed on Dosomething.org, 44 % of females and 15% of males in high schools struggle with low self-esteem.

The flashing numbers and brightly-lit, undisputably delicious merchandise available in the Commons has always drawn students’ attention with great ease, but this year it is a lack of appeal that has heads turning to school vending machines. According to the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, schools must now follow calorie restrictions with what they sell in their vending machines and other student-accessible food spots during the school day, in an effort to lower childhood obesity and bad eating habits.

This year, the school’s vending machines have adopted new cheap snacks for students to eat. In accordance with new school foods health laws, they’ve been stocked with the “diet” variety of snack foods with minimal sugar.

With high hopes of placing in state, the girls’ tennis team goes into region competition with enthusiasm and confidence. The varsity singles team constits of: seniors Leiani Brown, Courtney Meacham, and Christina Chahil. The varsity doubles teams consists of: sophomores Rachel Timpson and Hannah Hardy, and juniors Brequel Burbank and Kaylee Wengren.

In the absence of school spirit, performers, whether they be athletes or musically inclined, lack motivation to continue the excellence drilled in practice. Without the support of the crowd maintaining a level of discipline expected by coaches becomes an increasingly difficult task for all players alike. However, for the school, there’s no problem mustering up spirit that won’t stop and an excitement level to rival pro crowds. Everywhere around the valley the school is known as having the best crowds regardless of the outcome of any game or event.

Girls’ soccer team aims for State

The girls’ soccer team has been playing for a few weeks now since the beginning of their season. They play Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, usually at 3:30. The starting lineup for varsity consists of Mari Hasebi, Maizy Brubank, Autumn Jensen, Pania Clark, Marissa Croft, Steffanie, Missy, Alyssa, Ceami, Domicillia, and Aubre Bishop. They can usually be seen in the halls dressed in their uniforms on game days.
