Disney in 2019

As always, a new year brings new movies. In 2018, Disney dominated the box offices, earning over 27% of the worldwide movie revenue (Atlas Tech). 2019 could be even bigger for the company as they currently have eleven films scheduled to come out this calendar year. Some of them are originals, some sequels, and some live action remakes. All of them meant to make the industry.

Captain Marvel. On March 8th, 2019 Disney-owned Marvel Studios will premiere the long-awaited movie Captain Marvel about the most powerful superhero yet. This will also serve as a necessary piece to the puzzle that will be the resolution of Marvel’s Avenger’s Infinity War.

Dumbo. On March 29, 2019, Disney will release a live-action version of a beloved Disney classic. Dumbo, an elephant who can fly thanks to his over sized ears will bring life to a struggling circus once more.

Penguins. On April 19, 2019, the fairly Disneynature Studios will release a film about the life of a penguin named Steve as he explores his world and searches for love. Though it may be one of Disney’s less successful releases of the year it will still be cute and family friendly.

Avengers: End Game. On April 26, 2019, the sequel to Disney’s Avengers: Infinity War will premiere. Infinity War was one of Disney’s most successful productions in 2018 and End Game is anticipated to be just as widely received.

Aladdin. On May 24, 2019, Disney will release their second live-action remake of 2019. The classic story, songs and characters will appear re-imagined in this version of the classic romance originally found in One Thousand and One Nights.

Toy Story 4. Premiering on June 21, 2019, Disney-Pixar continues the Toy story saga with the classic characters going on a road trip.

Spider-Man: Far From Home. On July 5, 2019, Marvel will premiere its last film of 2019 by adding more to the Spider-Man universe. In Far From Home, Peter Parker will visit friends in Europe only to be interrupted by a new villain.

The Lion King. On July 19, 2019, Disney’s last but perhaps most anticipated live-action remake of the year will premiere. Completely, CGI with voice-over, The Lion King is definitely an ambitious project Disney is trying to accomplish this year.

Artemis Fowl. On August 9, 2019, the popular Eoin Colfer book about a 12-year-old with hopes of restoring his family’s legacy will come to life on screen. Fans of the books wait with bated breath to see if this Disney movie project measures up.

Frozen 2. On November 22, 2019, the long-awaited sequel to 2013’s hit Frozen will be released. The movie has yet to even have a title released but based on the popularity of the first movie, the sequel should at least have original marginal success.

Star Wars: Episode IX. On December 20, 2019, the latest Star Wars trilogy will wrap up in this new yet-to-be-titled movie. Highly anticipated, it should be an amazing wrap up to a packed year of Disney movies!
