The softball team’s 2016 season is officially under way as they opened up on March 7th at home against Cyprus High. The lady warriors looked dominant in their first appearance this season thrashing Cyprus 15-0. After that first big victory the girls got to take a trip to an Arizona tournament for the annual team trip.

Three days following their return home the girls opened region play at home against Copper Hills and had a chance to get their first crack at the newly assigned region three. The ladies were hot from start to finish handling the Grizzlies 15-1.

The ladies’ first away game was at Jordan on March 17th which resulted in a 16-1 thrashing for our girls. To wrap up the month of March the girls’ game against Brighton was cancelled and rescheduled to another date.

Kicking off the mid-season month with a tough game away at Bingham on April Fool’s day the girls came away with a tough loss 3-2. “We’re not too worried,” says Coach Richard Kaelin nonchalantly. “Alta and Bingham are teams we tend to look out for, usually.”

Taking a break from region the girls played at Granger and picked up. Before getting back to region the girls took on Tooele at their place which resulted in a 17-2 stomping.

“I mean, we think we’re pretty good,” said a slightly smiling Coach Kaelin. “We’re only a little ways toward state so far, but we as a team feel good about the championship –we’ll see when we get there, but we are pretty confident.”
