Do you have any ideas on what you’re going to do after high school? Most seniors hear this question a lot during their last year of high school, some students may be able to answer it confidently, while other students don’t have plans or just don’t know what to do.
There’s so many options, as in, going to college, or getting a job and moving out, or like my family we want to serve our LDS mission. Approximately 62% of students choose to go to college after high school, if you want to go to college there are so many things you could study, business, nursing, economics, and many other things.
“I want to go to college and play softball professionally after high school,” said Freshman Lola Egolf. You can have an option like Egolf and go to college to play sports. Only a small percentage of students go to college after high school for sports. 7% of all high school athletes go to play sports.
Other students may have other things in store. Some students want to follow their family’s footsteps and focus on something outside of academics and career. “I want to go on my mission when I graduate high school. My grandparents are what inspires me to do so, ” said Sophomore Jordyn Davidson.
Serving your mission is a hard decision for most students. If you don’t want to serve your mission or go to college, you have many other options. Not everyone needs or wants to go to college for four years to earn a degree, Others enter the job market first to figure out what they want to do and save money for the future in the meantime.
“After high school I want to go on my mission, get a job, and make money,” said Junior Ariez Davidson. If the other two options aren’t for you personally, then there’s also an option to get a job and make money, exactly what Ariez wants to do. 33.3% of all high school students choose to get a job after high school.
“After high school I want to go to nursing school,” said Freshman Laila Madrill. Madrill has a dream to go to college after high school for nursing. There’s many options like nursing, computer science, art, and many other things you could study to help you with your future careers. In 2022 the average percentage of students studying nursing school was 70%. That 70% of students have earned a bachelor of science in nursing or a higher degree.
If you’re like most students and don’t know what to do that’s okay. As you keep moving forward in high school I’m pretty sure you’ll figure out what you want to do. There are many options, going to college, going on your mission, getting a job, and making money could be one of them.
